Evelyn Carsley

Evelyn Louise Medlin Carsley, 96, of Colonial Heights passed away on Tuesday, October 18, 2016 at her residence. Born October 10, 1920, she was the daughter of the late John E. and Eva B. Medlin and was also preceded in death by her husband, Winburne T. Carsley; son, Glenn W. Carsley; and sister, Mavis Medlin Carsley. Evelyn was a member of Mount Pleasant Baptist Church in Colonial Heights. She retired from Honeywell after 30 years of service and had previously worked at JCPenney. She enjoyed quilting, crocheting and putting puzzles together. As a natural born caregiver, she has taken care of many of her friends in their time of need. She is survived by her two daughters, Claire Goulder and husband, Robert, and Marilyn Greene; six grandchildren, Keith Goulder and wife, Maureen, Al Goulder and wife, Donna, Mickey Goulder, Geoff Greene and wife, Karen, Leslie Greene, and Darlene Carsley; five great-grandchildren, Andrew Goulder, Hardy Greene, Claire Greene, Caleb Allen, and Eli Barker; special nephew, Mark Carsley and wife, Mary; special niece, Melanie Carsley; two great-nieces, Emma and Anna Carsley; one great nephew, Lee Olds and wife, Corinne; and one great-great-niece, Everleigh Olds. A Funeral Service will be held at 10:00 a.m. on Saturday, October 22, 2016 at the Colonial Heights Chapel of E. Alvin Small Funeral Homes and Crematory, 2033 Boulevard, with the Reverend Andrew Brockleman officiating. Interment will follow in Blandford Cemetery, Petersburg. The family will receive friends Friday night, October 21, 2016 from 6 - 8:00 p.m. at the funeral home. Flowers are welcome, or contributions may be made to Crater Community Hospice, 3916 S.
