Evelyn Collins

Evelyn Joyner Collins passed away on Monday, February 2, 2015. Born in Petersburg, Virginia, she was the daughter of the late Loy Gilbert Joyner Sr. and Lillian Jones Joyner. She was preceded in death by her husband, Edward J. Collins Jr. and her daughter, Tonda Charleyne Collins. She was also preceded by her brother, Loy Gilbert Joyner Jr. and sisters, Mavis Florene Joyner and Yvonne Juanita Pierini. Mrs. Collins was a member of Matoaca Baptist Church, and a lifelong member of the International Society of Beta Sigma Phi. Surviving her is her son, Terrence DeWitt Collins; grandson, Jamison DeWitt Collins; a daughte,r Mary Lena Shakley; sister, Greta Joyner Richey; brother, Glen C. Joyner (Frances); several nieces and nephews, among them Kimra Richey Vaughan (Tim) and Vickie Joyner Hooker (J.C.) who helped with her final care and were more like daughters; and numerous great nieces and nephews. A graveside funeral service will be held at 11:00 a.m. on Thursday, February 5, 2015 in Southlawn Memorial Park, 1911 Birdsong Road, Prince George, Virginia 23805 with the Reverend Robin Jones officiating. The family will receive friends from 7-8:30 p.m. on Wednesday, February 4, 2015 at the Colonial Heights Chapel of the E. Alvin Small Funeral Homes & Crematory, 2033 Boulevard. The family would like to thank Crater Community Hospice for their care and compassion shown to Mrs. Collins. In liue of flowers, contributions may be made to Crater Community Hospice, 3916 S.
