Everette Temple Jr.

Everette Lee Temple, Jr. 79 of S. Chesterfield, went to be with the Lord on Friday, Oct 29, 2021.  Everette died at Bon Secours Southside Medical Center after a battle with chronic kidney disease. Born in Petersburg, he was the son of the late Alice (Granny) Wawner and Everette Lee Temple, Sr. His wife of 35 years (1962) Carole Ann Gries Temple and brother, Woodrow Wilson Temple, Sr., stepdaughter, Pamela Jean Milledge and his special pet “Brandee” preceded Everette in death.  Everette attended the Petersburg School system until 1956 when his family moved to Prince George.  He worked at the A&P Grocery in Petersburg (1958-1963) while attending Prince George High School, graduating there in 1960.  He was a drummer for the PGHS band under the direction of John V. Mazza.  Everette was employed at Firestone Tire & Rubber in Hopewell 1963–1972 leaving there and starting a new career with Iron Workers Local #11 in NJ (as a welder) from 1972-1990.  Local #11 offered him many opportunities to travel and work throughout the state of VA as well as also utilizing him for jobs in MD, NY, MA, NJ and SC.    He worked with Suitt Construction in Hopewell 1990-2003 and Hall Electrical until his retirement in 2004.  After retirement he worked part-time for the VA ABC Board in Colonial Heights and Chester until 2020 when Covid shut down our great country, USA.  Everette was born, raised and attended Petersburg Assembly of God until 2008 when he began attending faithfully the Colonial Heights Baptist Church (now The Heights Baptist Church). Everette is survived by his wife, Carolyn Buckworth Temple of 22 yrs.; two daughters, Tanua Temple Murray and husband, Ed of Amelia; Sonya Temple Belote Trader of Fredericksburg; one granddaughter, Hailey Belote of Farmville (Longwood College); a sister, Linda Temple Mason and husband, Kenneth of Colonial Heights and sister-in-law, Faye Smith Temple of Chesterfield, two stepsons, Scott Milledge and wife, Wendy of Clearwater Beach, FL and Shannon Milledge and wife, Mitzi of Covington, VA.  A funeral service will be held 11:00 a.m. Saturday, November 6, 2021 in the Colonial Heights Chapel of E. Alvin Small Funeral Homes and Crematory 2033 Boulevard Colonial Heights, Virginia 23834 with the Reverend Michael Osborne of the Heights Baptist Church officiating. Interment will follow in Southlawn Memorial Park Prince George, Virginia.  The family will receive friends one hour prior to the service Saturday at the funeral home from 10:00-11:00 a.m.  In lieu of flowers, donations may be made in Everette Temple’s memory to The Heights Baptist Church 17201 Jeff-Davis Highway, Colonial Heights, VA 23834, or a charitable organization of choice.
