Florence Butler

Florence Aletha Butler, 89, of Chester, passed away August 25, 2022. She was born in Petersburg on September 1, 1932 to the late Leo and Lucy Cooley. Mrs. Butler was a lady of Christian faith and was retired as a foreman from the Chesterfield plant of Allied Chemical. She was preceded in death by her husband, Horace L. Butler Sr; mother and father, Lucy Davis Cooley and Leo Milton Cooley; and grandchildren, David L. Butler, Mark L. Butler, and Lisa B. Mooney. She is survived by her daughter, Aletha Oakley; sons, Horace Butler Jr. (Dawn), Ricky L. Butler (Wanda), and Jeffery Butler Sr.; 16 grandchildren; and numerous great and great-great-grandchildren. A funeral service will be held at 1:00 p.m. on Friday, September 2, 2022 at the Colonial Heights Chapel of E. Alvin Small Funeral Homes and Crematory, 2033 Boulevard, Colonial Heights, Virginia 23834. The family will receive guests from 6:00 p.m. to 8:00 p.m. on Thursday, September 1, 2022 at the funeral home. Interment will take place at Sunset Memorial Park, Chester.
