Frances Delano Wilson Barr, 98, widow of the late William T. Wilson and Robert F. Barr, of Colonial Heights went to her heavenly home on Thursday, February 3, 2022. Born on August 4, 1923, she was the daughter of the late Jake Taylor and Grace McNeal Delano of Northumberland County, Milia Virginia. She had resided at Dunlop House Assisted Living Facility for the past 6 years. She was the last surviving member of a family of five brothers and one sister: Ernest, Oldham, Alfred, Wilson and Franklin Delano and sister, Helen Sampson. Frances was a devoted and loving mother of William H. Wilson (Mary), Church Road, Virginia; Thomas Wilson (Kathy), Prospect, Kentucky; and Nancy Brooks (Earl), Midland, North Carolina. She also was a loving grandmother to nine grandchildren, 19 great-grandchildren, and three great-great-grandchildren and numerous nieces and nephews who loved her dearly. She was a faithful follower who loved the Lord and lived out that faith on a daily basis. Frances was a dedicated member of Immanuel Baptist Church where she taught Sunday School for many years. She was a gracious caregiver to family, friends, and neighbors for her entire life. Her hobbies were gardening, piano, organ, singing, sewing, bird watching, and dominoes. She loved Christmas and birthday gatherings and loved to dance, especially with her son, Billy. She gifted many hand-sewn quilts, hand embroidered towels, knitted and crochet items to family and friends. She was a wonderful cook for her family, friends, and neighbors. Frances had been an active member of Southernaires, where she enjoyed portraying Mrs. Claus at Christmas, she also was president of the Colonial Heights AARP, and a member of the Senior Clubs of Colonial Heights. A funeral service will be held 1:00 p.m. Friday, February 11, 2022, at the Crater Road Chapel of E. Alvin Small Funeral Homes, 3935 S. Crater Road, Petersburg, Va 23805, with a visitation one hour prior to the service from 12:00 p.m. to 1:00 p.m. Interment will follow at Blandford Cemetery, 319 S. Crater Road, Petersburg.
