Frances Freda O'Berry Flood, 83, of Colonial Heights, passed away on Sunday, October 7, 2012 at her residence. She was the daughter of the late James and Ethel Rose O'Berry, and was preceded in death by a brother, James Earl O'Berry. She was a lifetime member of the Petersburg Assembly of God Church. Mrs. Flood, "known as the Banana Lady", volunteered at the Colonial Heights Healthcare and Rehabilitation Center, distributing bananas to the residents every week for the past 25 years. Mrs. Flood is survived by her loving husband of 64 years, Hershel Leroy Flood; a son, Keith A. Flood and wife, Jeanie of Petersburg; a daughter, Sheryl F. Baird and husband, Dale of Ebony; grandchildren, Shawn Baird and wife, Jenny of Gainesville, Jennifer Flood of Martinsburg, West Virginia, Kristin Gulbronson and husband, Michael of Lehigh Acres; FL. great-grandchildren, Alex and Jaxson Baird of Gainesville, Madyson Gulbronson of Lehigh Acres, FL; sister, Audrey A. Boswell and husband, Horace of Matoaca; brother, Larry D. O'Berry and wife, Karen of Macon, Georgia. Friends may pay their respects from 7 to 8:30 p.m. Thursday at the Colonial Heights Chapel of the E. Alvin Small Funeral Homes & Crematory, 2033 Boulevard. The family will receive friends at 1:00 p.m. Saturday, October 13, 2012 with a memorial service to follow at 2:30 p.m. in the First Assembly of God, 25213 Ferndale Road, Petersburg, Virginia 23803 with the Reverend Dwayne Walker officiating.
