Frances "Tookie" Gill, 87, of Colonial Heights passed away on Sunday, December 6, 2015 at Southside Regional Medical Center. Born on March 5, 1928, she was the daughter of the late Irving Eugene and Josephine Hawkins Bowman, and is also preceded in death by her husband, Edward R. Gill, Sr. and by her 12 brothers and sisters, as she was the last surviving member of the Bowman siblings. Frances was a member of Colonial Heights Baptist Church for 60 years. She is survived by her daughter, Donna G. Freeman of Colonial Heights; son, Edward R. Gill, Jr. and wife, Debbie T. of Dinwiddie; grandchildren, Todd K. Jones, Shelly G. Simmons and husband, Braden, Stacy J. Anspach and husband, Billy, and Edward R. Gill III; great grandchildren, Braden, Dalton, and Greylen Simmons, Todd and Teagan Anspach; and numerous nieces and nephews. A funeral service will be held at 1:00 p.m. on Wednesday, December 9, 2015 at the Colonial Heights Chapel of E. Alvin Small Funeral Homes and Crematory, 2033 Boulevard, with the Reverend Dr. Randall Hahn and Reverend Michael Osborne officiating. Interment will follow in Southlawn Memorial Park, Prince George. The family will receive friends an hour prior to the service from 12 noon - 1 at the funeral home.
