Frances Phillips

Frances Walker Phillips of Colonial Heights, widow of Baxter F. Phillips Sr., passed away on Sunday, January 3, 2010. She was a native of Dinwiddie County, and was the daughter of the late William W. Walker Sr. and Maude Pillow Walker. She was formerly a longtime member of High St. United Methodist Church and currently a member of Wesley United Methodist Church. She was a member of Violet Bank Garden Club, and life member of Virginia Federation of Garden Clubs. She was retired from the Circuit Court of Colonial Heights. Mrs. Phillips is survived by her son and daughter-in-law, Baxter F. Phillips Jr. and Sharon Lee Phillips; one grandson, Baxter F. Phillips III and wife, Margaret Anne Phillips; a great-granddaughter, Anne Collier Phillips; a great-grandson, Baxter F. Phillips IV, and several nieces. A funeral service will be conducted at 2:00 p.m. Wednesday, January 6, 2010 in the Colonial Heights Chapel of the E. Alvin Small Funeral Homes & Crematory, 2033 Boulevard with the Reverend Al Thorne officiating. Interment will follow in Blandford Cemetery, Petersburg. The family will receive friends from 3-4:30 p.m. and 6-8:30 p.m. Tuesday at the funeral home.
