Frances Simmons

Frances K. Simmons, 87, of Matoaca, passed away on Tuesday, December 20, 2011. Born in Petersburg, she was the daughter of the late Charles E. and Maude Bishop Andrews, the widow of James Warren Simmons, and was preceded in death by a sister, Rachel Stevens. Mrs. Simmons was a member of the Matoaca United Methodist Church, and the Telephone Pioneers of America. She was a retired Tech. Clerk for C&P Telephone with 39 years of service. She is survived by three nieces, Jeanette Peterson of Stafford County, Judith Stevens of Virginia Beach, Carol Stevens of Florida; and two nephews, William Stevens of Pennsylvania and Ernest Stevens of Mechanicsville. A funeral service will be held at 11:00 a.m. Thursday, December 22, 2011 in the Matoaca United Methodist Church, 6301 River Road, Petersburg, Virginia 23803 with the Reverend Richard S. Gordon officiating. Interment will follow in Southlawn Memorial Park, Prince George. The family will receive friends from 10 to 10:45 a.m. Thursday at the church.
