Frances Houchins Tipton, 86, of Chesterfield, passed away on Thursday, August 26, 2010 at Brighter Living Assisted Living in Hopewell. She was the widow of Maurice E. Tipton Sr. and the daughter of the late William E. and Daisy Perry Houchins. Mrs. Tipton was a member of Wesley United Methodist Church in Colonial Heights, and was retired from Nations Bank with over thirty years of service. Mrs. Tipton is survived by her daughter, Martha Tipton Howlett of Dinwiddie; a son, Maurice Edward Tipton Jr. and wife, Linda of Roanoke Rapids, North Carolina; granddaughter, Sarah Elizabeth Gaskill and husband, James of Garner North Carolina; step granddaughter, Andrea Storey; five step great-grandchildren, A funeral service will be held at 11:00 a.m. on Monday August 30, 2010 at the Wesley United Methodist Church, 3701 Conduit Road, Colonial Heights, Virginia 23834 with the Reverend Dr. Donna Mott and the Reverend Dr. Carol F. McCann officiating. Interment to follow at 2:00 p.m. in the chapel at the Virginia Veterans Cemetery at Amelia, 10300 Pridesville Rd., Amelia, Virginia 23002. The family will receive friends one hour prior to the funeral service (10- 11 a.m.) at the church.
