On May 23, 2023, at the age of 77, The Lord called Frank McDaniel to be with Him in his heavenly home.
Frank was affectionately known as “Papa” by many family members including kids, grandkids, great-grand kids, and to many other students and children he loved and served in ministry. He was born on June 22, 1945 in Louisa Virginia to Mary Francis McDaniel and Lillard Franklin McDaniel Sr. He married Nancy Seay in 1972, and they were married for 51 years. He worked diligently at Fort Lee for 40+ years as a computer analyst, and was the man to call if anyone had a computer problem.
Frank loved many things. First and foremost, Frank loved Jesus and believed that Jesus Christ died on the cross and rose again for his sins, and for the sins of others. He loved his wife and family and treasured vacations and holidays with them. He also loved America, golf, computers, fishing, telling jokes, his dog Chloe, and maybe most of all, he loved butter, more butter, and extra butter!
Frank was dedicated to his church, The Heights Baptist, and loved serving alongside his wife in the church. They faithfully served in youth and children ministry for 40+ years. Frank sang in the choir for many years and participated in many Christmas pageants. Frank loved traveling, especially when it meant packing up the motor home and taking the family camping or making a trip to Myrtle Beach. Anyone who met Frank knew he was a talker and loved to tell a good story. We all know the person he loved talking to most, was Nancy. Throughout their marriage, it has always been Frank’s mission to protect and take care of Nancy. Since his passing, she is continuing to see how he is still taking care of her.
Frank is preceded in death by his mother and father, Mary Francis McDaniel and Lillard Franklin McDaniel Sr. and grandson, Geoffrey Williamson. He is survived by his children and their spouses, Butch, Steven, Skip, Laura, Arthur, Donna, James, Ricky, Cathy, Lisa, Steve, Angela, and James; his grandchildren and their spouses, DJ, Amanda, Nicole, Matt, Alexis, Stephen, Forrest, Travis, Austin, Michaela, Ashley, Josh, Berkeley, Ian, Jacob, Duncan, Kevin, Decklin, and Logan; and seven great-grandchildren. He is beloved and considered “Papa” by many other family members, friends, students, and children, and if we were to list them all, you would be reading for hours.
