Frank Irvin Michalek Sr., 87, of Chesterfield passed away on Monday, March 14, 2011 at his residence surrounded by his family. Mr. Michalek was a life-long resident and farmer in Chesterfield who enjoyed hunting deer, turkey, trapping and working in his vegetable garden. He was the son of the late Elizah Michalek and Rosie Michalek Cerny and preceded in death by five brothers, Anthony, Ernest, George, twin Charlie, and Emil Michalek. He is survived by his wife of 62 ½ years, Helen Gorecki Michalek; a daughter, Virginia Reiter and husband, Jimmy of Dinwiddie; sons, Frank Michalek Jr. and wife, Linda, Stephen Michalek and girlfriend, Debbie Sessums of Chesterfield; seven grandchildren, Kristle Sloan and husband, Chuck, Scott Reiter and wife, Naomi, Michael Reiter and wife, Christie, Mark Reiter and wife, Sara, Frank Michalek III and wife, Amy, Rebecca Bleigh and husband, Barry, Brian Reiter and wife, Jennifer; thirteen great-grandchildren with number fourteen due in April, and a step-sister, Pauline Drilling. A Funeral Mass will be held at 10:00 a.m. on Thursday, March 17, 2011 in St. Ann Catholic Church, 17111 Jefferson Davis Highway, with Father Lou Ruoff as celebrant. Interment to follow in Sunset Memorial Park, Chester. The family will receive friends from 7-8:30 p.m. Wednesday evening at the Church. In lieu of flowers, contributions may be made to St Ann Catholic Church. Arrangements are being provided by the Colonial Heights chapel of the E. Alvin Small Funeral Home & Crematory 2033 Boulevard.
