Franklin Delano Weathers, 77, of Matoaca, passed away on Friday, October 05, 2012. He was the son of the late John Thomas Weathers Sr. and Cleta Mae Clayton Weathers, and was preceded in death by two granddaughters, Debra M. Poole and Brandy L. Johnson. He retired from McLean Toms Inc. after 45 years of service. He was a very active member of the Matoaca United Methodist Church serving as a Trustee, President of the United Methodist Men, Sunday School Superintendent, Sunday School Teacher, and assisted Teacher of the Men's Sunday School Class. He was a member of the South Chesterfield Ruritan Club, and volunteer with Habitat for Humanity and was the Stew Master for Matoaca United Methodist Church, and member of the Tuesday Morning Bowling League Mr. Weathers is survived by his loving wife of 56 years Jean Kofron Weathers; daughters, Brenda W. Price (Andy), Sharon W. Johnson ( Ralph); a son, Franklin Douglas Weathers (Tabby); six grandchildren, Lee Price and wife Kayla, Joy Price, Timmy and Cody Johnson, Brittany and Lindsey Weathers, all of Matoaca, great grandson Austin Price, of Matoaca, two brothers, John Thomas Weathers Jr.,(Barbara) of North Carolina, Norman B. Weathers, (Kay), of Florida, half-brothers, Lonnie Weathers, of Colonial Heights, Charles Weathers, of Dinwiddie, half-sister Marlene Weathers, of Colonial Heights,. A funeral service will be held 11:00 a.m. Monday October 8, 2012 in the Petersburg Chapel of the E. Alvin Small Funeral Home, 3935 South Crater Road, Petersburg, 23805, with the Reverend Richard Gordon officiating. Interment will follow in Southlawn Memorial Park, Prince George, Virginia. The family will receive friend's Sunday October 7, 2012 from 2:00 p.m.-4:00 p.m. and from 6:30 p.m.to-8:00 p.m. at the funeral home.
