Freddie Joe Wallen, 76, of Appomattox County, formerly of Chesterfield, passed away on May 24, 2016 at Centra Lynchburg General Hospital. Born on November 19, 1939 he is the son to the late Lester V. Wallen and Alene Ramey Wallen. He is also preceded in death by a brother, Bobby Ray Wallen; and a sister, Shelvey Wallen Reekes. He is survived by his beloved wife, Charrie Diane Funk of Appomattox, Virginia; a son, Jamie R. Wallen of Appomattox, Virginia; a daughter, Joey L. Wade and husband, Eric of Chesterfield, Virginia; a step-son, Richard Branzelle and wife, Willie of Dinwiddie, Virginia; two step-daughters, Jeanette Bordeaux of Chesterfield, Virginia and Mary Beth Branzelle of Prince George, Virginia; five grandchildren, Tyler Wallen, Zachary Wallen, Corey Mingloski, Kayla Howard, and Kyle Howard; a sister, Phyllis Wallen Simmons of Stoney Creek, Virginia and numerous step-grandchildren, nieces and nephews. A graveside service will be held for Mr. Wallen at 1:00 p.m. on Thursday June 2, 2016 at Sunset Memorial Park. The family will receive friends from 6:00 to 8:00 p.m. on Wednesday June 1, 2016 at the Colonial Heights Chapel of E. Alvin Small Funeral Homes and Crematory. In lieu of flowers contributions can be made to Appomattox and Gladstone Volunteer Fire Services. Condolences may be registered at www.ealvinsmall.com.
