Frederick Moore

MSG Frederick William Moore, USA (Ret.), 88, of Colonial Heights, passed away on Wednesday, May 23, 2018. Born on February 15, 1930 in Rhode Island, he was the son of the late Arthur R. Moore and Mildred O'Connor Moore, and was preceded in death by his wife of 59 years, Mary Hess Moore; a daughter, Jeanne Moore Davis; two sisters; a brother; and a grandson, Chip Threatt. Mr. Moore was a member of St. Michael's Episcopal Church, and a retired combat veteran having served both in the Korean and Vietnam Wars. He was an avid woodworker and hunter; a member of the Hickory Hunt Club, Colonial Heights Moose Lodge, and the Colonial Heights American Legion Post #284. He was always there for his family and exemplified the Army value of selfless service in his everyday life. He was a patriot at heart. He is survived by a daughter, Mary Lou Barr (son-in-law, Mike); a son, William Moore; son-in-law, Jimmy Davis; daughter-in-law, Teresa B. Moore; grandchildren, Ricky Davis (Shellie), Randy Davis, Wynndell Radcliffe (Richard), Jed Davis, Joel Davis, Alli Moore Knapp (Hunter), Luke Moore, and Sam Moore; five great-grandchildren; one great-great-grandchild; and a brother, Raymond Moore. A Funeral Service will be held at 10:00 a.m. Wednesday, May 30, 2018 in the Colonial Heights Chapel of the E. Alvin Small Funeral Homes & Crematory, 2033 Boulevard with the Reverend Mark Hughes officiating. Burial will follow in Bermuda Memorial Park, Enon. The family will receive friends from 6:00 - 8:00 p.m. Tuesday, May 29, 2018 at the funeral home. In lieu of flowers, contributions may be made to the Disabled American Veterans, 210 Franklin Road, Roanoke, Virginia 24011 or the Memorial Sloan Kettering Cancer Center, 1275 York Avenue, New York, New York 10065.
