Mr. Allen, 91, and long time resident of Colonial Heights, passed away on Wednesday, October 7, 2009. He was the son of the late Charles R. and Mattie Pitchford Allen and was preceded in death by his first wife, Lucille Wilson Allen and a brother, Ozzie D. Allen. Mr. Allen was a member of Immanuel Baptist Church for over sixty years. He lived in Colonial Heights for more than seventy-five years and together with Lucille owned and operated Allen's Motel and Allen Amoco Service Station. He is survived by his wife, Maxine Gohn Allen; two sons, G. Wayne Allen and wife, Donna of Chesterfield, Forrest W. Allen and companion, Doreen Boles of Emporia; three grandchildren, Sarah Elizabeth Allen Grant and husband, Jon of Farmville, Christopher Wayne Allen of Chesterfield and Steven Forrest Allen of Chester; great-granddaughter, Emma Joyce Grant of Farmville; step sons, Charles H. Gohn and Steven V. Gohn. A Funeral service will take place12:30 p.m. on Saturday, October 10, 2009 in the chapel of E. Alvin Small Funeral Home 2033 Boulevard Colonial Heights with the Reverend David Prather officiating. Interment Blandford Cemetery, Petersburg. The family will receive friends Friday evening from 7 to 8:30 p.m. at the funeral home.
