Garnett David "Dave" Wegman

Garnett David (Dave) Wegman, 79, of Matoaca, Virginia, passed away Wednesday, February 19, 2025. A West Virginia native, Dave grew up in Valley Bend, WV before moving to Virginia to begin his life as a husband and father. Dave served proudly in Vietnam and was a retired truck shop mechanic for many years with Stone Container paper mill in Hopewell, VA. Dave was preceded in death by his father, William Henry Wegman; mother, Nevie Helmick Wegman; mother-in-law, Susan P. Pritt;,and brother, Randall W. Wegman.

He is survived by his wife of 58 years, Delora Pritt Wegman; daughter, Robin McClellan and husband, James of Ford, VA; daughter, Crystal Wegman of Ettrick, VA; granddaughters, Savannah Hope Duncan of Ettrick, VA and Lauren Amburn Clay and husband, Evan of Virginia Beach, VA; brother, William Firl Wegman and wife, Bonnie of Beverly, WV; sister, Thelma Wegman Bender of Prince George, VA; and beloved cousin, Carrol Wegman of Beverly, WV.

Dave enjoyed fishing and life at home with his wife and little dog, Teddy Bear. Dave was a loyal husband, father, friend and neighbor who will be deeply missed but never forgotten. 

A graveside service will be held at 11:00 a.m. on Tuesday, March 4, 2025 at Southlawn Memorial Park, 1911 Birdsong Rd, Petersburg, VA 23805. The family will receive friends from 6:00 – 8:00 p.m. on Monday, March 3, 2025 at the Colonial Heights Chapel of the E. Alvin Small Funeral Homes and Crematory, 2033 Boulevard, Colonial Heights, VA, 23834.
