Garnetta Nalley Poe

Garnetta “Sue” Nalley Poe, 89, of Colonial Heights, born September 19, 1934, passed away on January 24 2024.  She was preceded in death by her parents, James and Mattie Nalley, brothers, George, Chester, and Freddie, sisters Pauline, Inez, Christine, and Margaret, her husband Edgar “Skippy” Poe, son Robert Poe, grandson Jeffrey Swiney Sr, and great grandson Jeffrey Swiney Jr. She is survived by daughter Connie Jones, grandson William Swiney, great granddaughter Jetay Swiney, grandson Robert Poe and his wife Tara.  Sue was a school crossing guard with the Colonial Heights Police Department for nearly 50 years.  She volunteered at the Kenner Army Hospital Pharmacy for 15 years and was a cherished member of the tri-cities community.  She will forever be remembered for her immeasurable charity and love as she always had time to help anyone in need, and no one was a stranger in her eyes.  Her final resting place will be at the Virginia Veterans Cemetery, located in Amelia County, 10300 Pridesville Road, Amelia Court House, VA 23002, where she will join her husband and son.   In lieu of a service or flowers, please consider a donation to St. Jude’s Children's Research Hospital https://www.stjude.org/donate/donate-to-st-jude.html  Funeral arrangements are being handled by the Colonial Heights Chapel of E.
