-- View a Video --In Memory Of Garvis "Rudy" Downey Jr. Garvis "Rudy" Downey Jr., 67, of Colonial Heights, passed away Friday September 13, 2013 at Southside Regional Medical Center. He was born April 6, 1946 in Rockbridge County, Virginia to the late Garvis Rudolph Downey and Kathleen Wood Downey and was preceded in death by a sister Nancy D. Barger. Mr. Downey was a United States Marine Veteran and a Vietnam Conflict Veteran. He is survived by his wife Nannie B. Downey, three sons Rudy Downey III, of Richmond, Kevin Scott Downey of Virginia Beach, William Kent Downey of Snowshoe, West Virginia, granddaughter, Emma Grace Downey, and brother Charles H. Downey. A funeral service will be held at 4:00 p.m. Sunday September 15, 2013 in the Colonial Heights Chapel of E. Alvin Small Funeral Homes and Crematory 2033 Boulevard with the Reverend Douglas Milliner officiating. A graveside service will be held Monday September 16, 2013 at 1:00 p.m., in Glasgow Cemetery, Glasgow, Virginia. The family will receive friends Sunday prior to the funeral service from 3:00 p.m. to 4:00 p.m. at the funeral home. In lieu of flowers donations may be made to the Colonial Heights Fire and EMS P.O.
