Gayle Driskill

November 6, 1939 — January 12, 2022

Gayle Collier Driskill entered eternal life on January 12th, 2022.  She was preceded in death by her beloved husband, William “Billy” Driskill, Sr.  Billy and Gayle were married for 46 years and raised 5 children in the Matoaca community.  She was a member of the Matoaca Woman’s Club, Matoaca Methodist Church, and Washington Street United Methodist Church, Petersburg.  She retired from Chesterfield County Public Schools.

Her greatest joy in life was her children and grandchildren, and she was always their biggest cheerleader. She spent countless hours at baseball, basketball, football, softball, and volleyball games, along with tennis, cheering, dance and piano recitals.  Her love and devotion to her family was the focus of everything that she did. She was known to all as Memama.

She is survived by daughters and sons-in-law, Kimberly Driskill Peters (Jeff) of Midlothian, and Tracy Driskill (Larry Garcia) of Glen Allen; sons, William V. “Rick” Driskill, Jr. of Colonial Heights, Scott Driskill (Sherry) of Chesterfield, and Troy Driskill (Tonya) of Matoaca; a sister, Frances Pulley of Chesterfield; sister-in-law, Alice Hamilton and Bobby of Matoaca; eight grandchildren, Chris Pond (Kim) of Charleston, SC, Heath Pond (Alicia) of Midlothian, Jordan Driskill Harris (Matt) of Colonial Heights, Steele Driskill (Gabrielle Denuel) of Hanford, CA,  Berkeley Driskill Medrano (Taylor) of Midlothian, Reid Driskill of Matoaca, Bailey Driskill of Colonial Heights, and Cade Driskill of Matoaca; five great-grandchildren, Jace Pond, Kylie Pond Carr (Andrew) of Charleston, SC; Kaine Pond, Macie Pond of Midlothian, Gresham Harris of Colonial Heights; nephew, Cam Driskill (Amy) of Matoaca; niece, Toni Hamilton of Matoaca; many other nieces and nephews; and devoted friends Diane and Lin Parrish.

A Celebration of Life will be held on Tuesday, January 18, 2022, at 2:30 p.m. at the Colonial Heights Chapel of E. Alvin Small Funeral Homes & Crematory, 2033 Boulevard, Colonial Heights, Virginia 23834. The family will receive visitors one hour prior to the service at the funeral home.  Interment will follow in East Matoaca Cemetery, 21576-21688 Memorial Ave, Petersburg, VA 23803.
