Gene A. Gwinn Jr., 56, of Colonial Heights, passed away on Saturday, May 23, 2015 at Chippenham Medical Center. Born in Fairbanks, Alaska, he was the son of the late Gene Austin Gwinn Sr. and Evelyn Cutler Gwinn. He was preceded in death by his sisters, Rochelle "Cissy" Clark and Karen Marie Gwinn. Gene was a member of the Sons of Confederate Veterans, and an Alcoholics and Narcotics Anonymous member and sponsor. He is survived by his son, David Gwinn; two nieces, Jennifer Clark and Kimberly Polansky; a nephew, Andrew Austin Scott; great niece and nephews, Amiya and Aiden Polansky and Kamron Ahmed; longtime friend, Jean Martin; and his best friends, John Gill and Keith Carper. The family will receive friends from 7 to 8:30 p.m. Thursday, May 28, 2015 at the Colonial Heights Chapel of the E. Alvin Small Funeral Homes & Crematory, 2033 Boulevard. Interment will be private.
