Gene Morris Tate, 75, of Dinwiddie, passed away on Monday, March 14, 2011 at his residence. He was the widower of Wanda Viola Tate, and the son of the late Earl W. and Jeanette Server Tate. He was preceded in death by a sister, Charlotte Tate, and a grandson, Jimmy Tate. Mr. Tate was member of the Retail Merchant's Union. He is survived by three sons, Gary G. Tate of Dinwiddie, Gerald M. Tate of Dale City and Ricky R. Tate of Martinsville; a daughter, Connie J. Meadows of Dumfries; five granddaughters; six grandsons; six great-granddaughters; three great-grandsons; brothers and sisters, Ruby E. Tate of Chicago, Illinois, Ernie W. Tate of Chicago, June R. Tate of Chicago, Morris C. Tate of Las Vegas, Nevada, Earl W. Tate Jr. of Billings, Montana, James Tate of Chicago, David A. Tate of Chicago, Jeanette Susan Tate of Chicago, Irma Mullet of Glendale, Arizona, Virginia R. Tate of Chicago, Delores Tate of Chicago, Russell Tate of Salt Lake City, Utah, Michael Tate of Japan, and Theresa Weinshenker of Aurora, Illinois. A graveside service will be held at 2:00 p.m. Saturday, March 19, 2011 in Southlawn Memorial Park, Prince George with Father John Ayers officiating. The family will receive friends from 7 to 8:30 p.m. Friday at the Colonial Heights Chapel of the E. Alvin Small Funeral Homes & Crematory, 2033 Boulevard
