Genevieve Harris

Genevieve S. Harris, 92, of Colonial Heights, passed away on Thursday, September 16, 2010 at the Dunlop House. Born in Matoaca, she was the daughter of the late John and Florence Spratley, and the widow of Robert A. Harris Sr. Mrs. Harris was a member of Matoaca Baptist Church, the Gideon Auxiliary and was a retired Teacher's Aide with Chesterfield County Schools. She is survived by her son, Robert A. Harris Jr. and wife, Becky of Colonial Heights; two grandsons, Andrew C. Harris and wife, Nikki of Carlsbad, California, and Brett A. Harris and wife, Rebecca of Durham, North Carolina; two great-granddaughters, Hope G. Harris and Leah G. Harris both of Carlsbad, California; and a sister, Geraldine Lanhan of Matoaca. A funeral service will be held at 11:00 a.m. Monday, September 20, 2010 in the Matoaca Baptist Church, 6409 River Road, Matoaca, Virginia 23803 with the Reverend Donald Joyner officiating. Interment will follow in East Matoaca Cemetery, Matoaca. The family will receive friends from 2 to 4:00 p.m. Sunday at the Colonial Heights Chapel of the E. Alvin Small Funeral Homes & Crematory, 2033 Boulevard. Flowers are welcome or contributions may be made to the Matoaca Baptist Church Benevolence Fund.
