George Abernathy

George Allen Abernathy, 74, of Colonial Heights, passed away Thursday, September 18, 2014. He was born February 6, 1940 to the late Eddie Abernathy and Ethel Major Abernathy. Mr. Abernathy was a member of Faith Baptist Church in Colonial Heights. He retired as a Superintendent for Tarmac and a former newspaper carrier for the Progress Index and the Richmond Times Dispatch. He is survived by his wife, Peggy Clark Abernathy; sons, George A. Abernathy Jr. and wife, Tammy Clark Abernathy, David Eugene Clark, Bernard Lee Clark and wife, Diana; adopted daughter, Wanda Marie Jones; grandchildren, Eric Abernathy, Timothy Abernathy, Heather Clark, Brandon Lee Holland; brother, Joe Abernathy and wife, Dallas; niece, Theresa Abernathy Ordazzo. A funeral service will be held 7:00 p.m. Monday, September 22, 2014 at Faith Baptist Church, 1226 W Roslyn Rd, Colonial Heights, VA 23834, with the Reverend Eugene Ballance officiating.
