George Burnett Goodall Sr., 92, of Petersburg, passed away on Sunday, May 8, 2011 at Southside Regional Medical Center. Born in Madison County, he was the son of the late Joseph P. and Lillian Bowman Goodall. He was preceded in death by his wife, Pearl Dewell Goodall, and a son, George Burnett (Burny) Goodall Jr. Mr. Goodall was a United States Army veteran, in the 1st Infantry Division, European Theater World War II, and Korean where he received both the Silver and Bronze Star. He was a member of First Christian Church, Petersburg, and retired from Civil Service at Fort Lee. He is survived by a daughter, Anita Goodall Ford of Macon, Georgia; a son, Terry J. Goodall and wife, Barbara Bragg Goodall of Prince George; grandchildren, Eric P. Ford of Providence, Rhode Island, Adam S. Ford of Macon, Bryan J. Goodall of Radford, and Chad W. Goodall of Prince George; great-grandchildren, Lily Pearl Ford, and Colin John Ford both of Providence; a brother, Culton S. Goodall of Madison. A funeral service will be held at 10:00 a.m. Thursday, May 12, 2011 in the Petersburg Chapel of the E. Alvin Small Funeral Homes & Crematory, 3935 S. Crater Road, with the Reverend Ron Hopkins officiating. Interment will follow in Southlawn Memorial Park, Prince George with military honors. The family will receive friends from 7 to 8:30 p.m. Wednesday at the funeral home.
