George Minton Jr. George Minton Jr., 79, of Colonial Heights passed away on Friday, 21, 2011 at McGuire's Veterans Hospital. George was a retired First Sergeant of the United States Army and served in the Korean War. He also was past President of the Legion of Moose and Past Governor in 1974, life member of DAV, and member of Colonial Heights Moose Lodge. He was the son of the late George L. and Leola Dalton Minton. Survivors include his daughter Leigh Dicks of Henrico; his son, Walter John Minton and wife, Kimberly of Prince George; six grandchildren, Trey Arnold and wife, Cynthia, Christy Williamson and husband, Stuart; Amber Duryee and husband, George, Adam and Austin Minton, and Sarah Fitch; four great-grandchildren, Emma and Penelope Williamson, George Jr., and Zach Duryee; three sisters, Helen Mann of Chester, JoAnn Brown of West Virginia, Frances Worley of West Virginia; a brother, Kenneth Minton and wife, Jewel of West Virginia; numerous nieces and nephews. Funeral service will be 2:00 p.m. Monday, January 24, 2011 in the Colonial Heights Chapel of the E. Alvin Small Funeral Homes and Crematory, 2033 Boulevard with the Reverend David Prather officiating. Interment Southlawn Memorial Park, Prince George, Virginia. The family will receive friends Sunday, January 23, 2011 from 3-4:30 p.m. at the funeral home.
