George R. (Perk) Perkinson, 80, of Colonial Heights, passed away on Monday, February 2, 2009 at Southside Regional Medical Center. He was the son of the late George A. and Marie Harvell Perkinson, and was preceded in death by a sister, Ida Bradshaw and two brothers, Billy and Charles Perkinson. Mr. Perkinson was a member of Calvary Baptist Church, Colonial Heights. He was a U.S. Marine Corp. veteran having served during the Korean Conflict. He is survived by his wife of 60 years, Marceline H. Perkinson; a son, Randy Perkinson and wife, Jan of Colonial Heights; a daughter, René Vitikacs and husband, Bob of Chesterfield; four grandchildren, Scott Vaughan and wife, Molly, Karly Ferguson and husband, Mike, Brian Perkinson and wife, Regina, & Allison Bradley and husband, Jeff; four great-grandchildren, Jordyn Vaughan, Ross Miller, Owen Bradley and Reagan Perkinson; a sister-in-law, Beulah Perkinson; numerous nieces and nephews. A funeral service will be held at 11:00 a.m. Thursday, February 5, 2009 in the Colonial Heights Chapel of the E. Alvin Small Funeral Homes & Crematory, 2033 Boulevard with the Reverend Ray Haskett officiating. Interment Southlawn Memorial Park, Prince George. The family will receive friends from 7 to 8:30 p.m. Wednesday (tonight) at the funeral home.
