George Sheffield Iii

George (Pop) David Sheffield III, 67, of Colonial Heights, passed away on Tuesday, December 20, 2011. Born in Petersburg, he was the son of the late George D. Sheffield Jr. and Mary Bowman Sheffield, and was preceded in death by a sister, Betty Ann Sheffield. Mr. Sheffield was a retired Lab Tech and Union Rep. with DuPont. He is survived by a daughter, Joey C. Sparkman and husband, Rudy of Dinwiddie; two sons, Charles Blane Sheffield and wife, Cindy of Colonial Heights, and George David Sheffield IV and wife, Laura of Suffolk; eight grandchildren; and his step-mother, Helen Sheffield of Colonial Heights. A funeral service will be held at 3:00 p.m. Thursday, December 22, 2011 in the Colonial Heights Chapel of the E. Alvin Small Funeral Homes & Crematory, 2033 Boulevard with the Reverend Guy Wayne Murdock officiating. Interment will be private. The family will receive friends from 7:00 to 8:30 p.m. Wednesday (tonight) at the funeral home.
