George Volz Jr.

George H. Volz, Jr., 87, of Petersburg, passed away on Thursday, April 9, 2015. Born on October 24, 1927, he was the son of the late George H. Volz, Sr. and Mildred Lenore Andrews. Mr. Volz was last employed by Heritage Chevrolet and was a retired garage manager for Chesterfield Police Department. He also served in the United States Army during the Korean War and was a member of American Legion Post #136 He is survived by his beloved wife of 62 years, Shirley Nugent Volz; daughter, Kathy V. Mason and husband, Bud of Sutherland; grandson, Korey Mason of Sutherland; granddaughter, Melissa A. Mason of Sutherland; brother-in-laws, Buddy Nugent and wife, Florence of Dinwiddie, and Kenny Nugent and wife, Sally of Chesterfield; sister-in-laws, Barbara Brooks and husband, Earl of Sutherland, and Jean Barker and husband, Claude of Prince George. A Graveside Service will be held at 11:00 a.m. on Tuesday, April 14, 2015 in Southlawn Memorial Park, Prince George, Virginia. The family will receive friends on Monday April 13, 2015 from 7-8:30 p.m. at the Colonial Heights Chapel of E. Alvin Small Funeral Homes, 2033 Boulevard, with an American Legion service at 7 p.m. Condolences may be registered at www.ealvinsmall.com.
