Gerald Duane "Jerry" Curtis, 86, of Petersburg passed away on Saturday, June 11, 2016 at his residence. Born on June 20, 1929, he was the son of the late Walter Edward and Lela Snow Curtis, and was also preceded in death by his wife, Carol N. Curtis; and brothers, William E. Curtis and Walter Keith Curtis. Gerald retired from the United States Air Force having served during the Korean War and Vietnam. After his military career, Jerry worked as an optometrist, which he retired from after many years. He is survived by his son, James Edward Curtis of Petersburg, Virginia; daughters, Judith Lynn Griffith of Prince George, Virginia, Candace Grubb of Akron, Ohio, Frances Kim Smith of Grand Terrace, California, Kellie Ann Gillette of Portland, Oregon, Leisa Borges of Las Vegas, Nevada; fourteen grandchildren; twelve great-grandchildren; numerous nieces and nephews; and dear friend, Liz Astin. A graveside service will be held at 11:00 a.m. on Thursday, June 16, 2016 in Southlawn Memorial Park, 1911 Birdsong Road, S. Prince George, 23805, with the Reverend Bob Lamb officiating. The family will receive friends Wednesday night, June 15, 2016 from 7-8:30 p.m. at the Crater Road Chapel of E. Alvin Small Funeral Homes and Crematory, 3935 S.
