Gerald Earl "Jerry" Lucas, 46, of Disputanta, passed away on Wednesday, March 21, 2012, after a long courageous battle with ALS, surrounded by his loving family and friends. Mr. Lucas was a member of Faith Baptist Church, and was employed with Ashland Chemical as a Laboratory Technician. He was an avid hunter and fisherman. He is survived by his wife, Lorraine H. Lucas; his parents, Gerald L. and Mary B. Lucas of Chesterfield; sister, Brenda Lucas and husband, Rickey of Matoaca; a stepmother, Linda Penney; two half-brothers, Marc Penney and wife, Theresa and Matthew Penney and wife, Shelby all of Illinois; mother- and father-in-law, Priscilla and George "Sonny" Brace of Disputanta; a sister-in-law, Jennifer Hofmann and husband, Eric of Chesapeake; three nieces, Heather Lucas, Maddie and Bre Penney; two nephews, Colby and Lane Hofmann; and his faithful friend, Marley. A private graveside service will be held in Bermuda Memorial Park, 1901 Bermuda Hundred Road, Chester, Virginia 23836 with Pastor George Dembeck officiating. An open visitation will be held from 9 to 5:00 p.m. on Sunday, March 25, 2012 at the Colonial Heights Chapel of the E. Alvin Small Funeral Homes & Crematory, 2033 Boulevard.
