Gerald Wood

Gerald James Wood, 80, of Prince George, VA passed away on February 17, 2016 at his residence. Born on January 31, 1936 in North Carolina, he was the son of the late Jefferson Franklin Wood and Myrtle Mae Futrelle, and was also preceded in death by his first wife, Margaret M. Wood. Mr. Wood was the owner and operator of Wood & Sons Builders, Inc. in Prince George. He is survived by his loving wife, Margie A. Wood; three daughters, Donna W. Walker, Lydia W. Crawford and husband, Hank, and Brenda Wood Rosenberg and husband, Michael; three sons, Allen Dale Wood and wife, Ann, James Steven Wood and Jeffrey Scott Wood and wife, Kate; five grandchildren; seven great-grandchildren; two sisters, Atlee Riedel and Emily Mertz; and numerous nieces and nephews. A funeral service will be held at 1:00 p.m. on Monday, February 22, 2016 at the Crater Road Chapel of E. Alvin Small Funeral Homes and Crematory, 3935 S. Crater Rd., Petersburg, VA 23805, with the Rev. Dr. Thomas Lovorn, officiating. Interment will follow in Southlawn Memorial Park, Prince George, VA.
