Gerda Hedwig Frenzel

Gerda Hedwig Frenzel, 92 of Midlothian, Virginia passed away on Wednesday, October 30, 2024, at Bon Secours St. Francis Medical Center. Born in Lodz, Poland to parents Berthold and Olga Schiller, she immigrated to the United States post WWII at the age of 17 with her parents and four siblings. She married William Norbert Frenzel in 1953 and remained married for 60 years until his death in 2013. During her life in America, she resided in Buffalo, New York, relocated to Fort Lauderdale, Florida and on retirement relocated to Colonial Heights, Virginia. After the death of her husband, she moved to Midlothian where she resided in a senior community where she enjoyed playing cards, Rummikub and socializing with her many friends. She was loving, caring, and comforting to all. She was a very strong person with a big heart and was frequently complemented on her contagious smile. Gerda was preceded in death by her sister Cecile Ziegler and brother George Schiller. She is survived by two brothers Herb Schiller and his wife Joanne, and brother Edward Schiller. She was very proud of her family and will be missed by her loving children, Jane F. Kenney and husband Timothy; Rosemarie E. Richey and husband, Robert; grandchildren Eric Richey and his wife Heather; Jessica Prout and her husband Derek; Sean Kenney and Steven Kenney. She was also blessed with five great-grandchildren which were her pride and joy; Ethan, Abigail, Ryan, Samantha and William; also surviving are numerous cousins, nieces and nephews. A memorial service will be held 3:00 p.m. Friday, January 17, 2025 at at Grace Lutheran Church, 13028 Harrowgate Road, Chester, VA. 23831 The family requests memorial contributions  be made in her memory to: Grace Lutheran Church.
