Gerhard Mcalister

Gerhard Joseph “Gary” McAlister, 69, of Midlothian, Virginia, passed away Tuesday, October 19, 2021 at his home.  Gary was predeceased by his parents Hiram Stanley “Pat” and Anita Maria Bauer McAlister, by his aunt and uncle Maria Theresia Bauer and Gerald Edgar Allen, and by his cousin Kenneth “Dan” Sherer.

Gary is survived by his wife of 46 years, Patricia Marie McAlhaney McAlister, daughters, Erin McAlister Boujon (Philippe) and Kristen McAlister (Brian Wachter) and five wonderful grandchildren: Adele and Colette Boujon and Kellan, Rowan, and Elise Wachter.  He is also survived by his stepmother, Jackie Tingler McAlister and  by his sister, Monica McAlister Clark (Jim) and their son, Alexander, and by Gary’s cousin Martina Allen Hall (Don)and their children Katherine Hall Winslow (Seth) and Rebecca, and by his cousin Stephen Allen (Wendy) and their children Timothy, Jonathan (Tracy King) and their children Lily and Lucas, Joseph (Julia), Stephanie, Samantha Dalay(Jacob) and their children Alyona and Cato, and Andrew.

Gary was a member of St Edward the Confessor Catholic Church in Bon Air, Virginia for 46 years.  He was a graduate of John Tyler Community College and of Virginia Tech.  He was an electrical engineer and spent his entire 40-year career at Dominion Energy, and he was a member of the Institute for Electrical and Electronic Engineers (IEEE).

Gary’s favorite activities were visiting his daughters, playing with his grandchildren, teasing his sister, enjoying family get-togethers, playing golf at the Golden Eagle with his former co-workers, and trying out new recipes.

Funeral mass will be held at 11:00 a.m. on Tuesday, October 26, 2021 at St. Ann Catholic Church, 17111 Jefferson Davis Hwy, South Chesterfield, VA 23834, with Fr. Ernest Bulinda officiating. Interment will follow in St. Ann Catholic Church Cemetery. The family will receive friends one hour prior to mass on Tuesday from 10:00 – 11:00 a.m. at church.
