Gertrude Irene Bristow, 93, of Colonial Heights passed away on Thursday, February 5, 2015 at the Colonial Heights Health Care Center. She was the daughter of the late James O. Perkinson Sr. and Goldie Perkinson, and was preceded in death by her husband of 66 ½ years, John H. Bristow, a brother, James Otis Perkinson Jr., and a son-in-law, William "Bill" Lepley. Mrs. Bristow was a member of Wesley United Methodist Church for over 54 years. She is survived by her two daughters, Phyllis Bristow Lepley of Chesterfield and Linda Bristow Kump and husband, Steve of Colonial Heights; son, James Hamilton Bristow and wife, Sharon of Petersburg; grandchildren, Linda Lepley Gentry and husband, Wade of Mosley, Cayce Ayn Kump of Atlanta, and David Wayne Bristow and wife, Cheryl of Chesterfield; great grandchildren, Ashton Conner Gentry, Chelsea Bristow and Crisse Bristow; and a sister-in-law, Mary Warren Perkinson. The family would like to thank the staff of Colonial Heights Health Care for the love and compassion shown to Mrs. Bristow. A Graveside Service will be held at 11:00 a.m. Monday, February 9, 2015 at Southlawn Memorial Park, 1911 Birdsong Road, Prince George, Virginia 23805 with the Reverend Raymond McGarr officiating. The family will receive friends from 3 to 4:30 p.m. Sunday, February 8, 2015 at the Colonial Heights Chapel of the E. Alvin Small Funeral Homes & Crematory, 2033 Boulevard.
