Gertrude Harriet Goode

Gertrude Harriet Goode, 91, of S. Prince George passed away on Sunday, March 2, 2025. Born November 16, 1933, she was the daughter of the late Stephen and Ruth Lyon and was also preceded in death by her siblings, George, Charles and Steven Lyon, and Audrey Schuler.

Gertrude dedicated many years of her life to healthcare as a nurse’s aide, providing comfort and care to those in need.

An avid reader, Gertrude could often be found lost in the pages of a good book. She had a green thumb and took great pride in her garden, nurturing flowers and plants with the same patience and dedication she showed in every aspect of her life.

She also enjoyed the challenge of a good crossword puzzle, the fun of a card game, and the quiet satisfaction of completing a jigsaw puzzle—pastimes that reflected her sharp mind and love for problem-solving.

She is survived by her children, Barry Morris of Franklin Park, New Jersey, Keith and Lori Morris of Englishtown, New Jersey, Linda and John Butler of S. Prince George, Virginia, Wayne Morris of East Brunswick, New Jersey, Joseph Goode, Jr. of Old Bridge, New Jersey; six beloved grandchildren; and other extended family members.

Interment will be private. Funeral arrangements are being handled by the Crater Road Chapel of E. Alvin Small Funerals and Crematory, 3935 S. Crater Road, Petersburg, Virginia 23805.
