Gladys Steele

Gladys Earline Steele, 75, of Matoaca, died Sunday, March 26, 2017 in Petersburg. Born in Brunswick County, VA, she was daughter of the late George W. and Gladys Elizabeth Grant. She was a member of Matoaca United Methodist Church and retired from the Chesterfield County Public Schools as an assistant food service manager. She is survived by her husband, Elwood B. (Nick) Steele; daughter, Jean Diane S. Skinner (Wayne); son, Ronald B. Steele; all of Matoaca, brothers, Richard Grant (Kathy), Clyde Grant (Alice) and William Grant (Young Sil); sister, Glenda Conners (Woody); grandchildren, Joseph A. Arrigo, Brandon W. Skinner and William B. Skinner. A funeral service will be held Thursday, March 30, 2017 at 11:00 a.m. in Matoaca United Methodist Church, 6301 River Road, South Chesterfield, VA. The family will receive friends Wednesday, March 29, 2017 from 7-8:30 p.m. at the Colonial Heights Chapel of E. Alvin Small Funeral Homes and Crematory, 2033 Boulevard. Interment will be in Blandford Cemetery, Petersburg. In lieu of flowers contributions may be made to the Alzheimer's Association, 4600 Cox Road Suite 130, Glen Allen, VA 23060.
