Glenn W. Carsley, 63, aka "Trapper" or "Carsley" passed away on Sunday, July 26, 2015 at John Randolph Medical Center. Born in Mecklenburg County, North Carolina he was preceded in death by his father, Wilburne Thomas Carsley. He retired from Honeywell with 38 years of service, and was a member of the Fraternal Order of Eagles #882. He will be remembered by his family and friends for his loving and caring ways as he lived his life for others. He loved karaoke, singing and dancing the "bop." He enjoyed cooking, spending time at the beach and fishing trips. His motto was, "life is short, make yourself happy!" He is survived by his devoted daughter, Darlene Carsley; step-son, Jason Wells; grandson, Elias Barker; his mother, Evelyn Medlin Carsley; sisters, Claire Carsley Goulder (Robert) and Marilyn Carsley Greene; loving companion, Linda K. Hathaway; "adopted" children, Travis Hathaway and Stephanie Hathaway and Jennifer McCall; nephews, Thomas Alvin Goulder (Donna), Robert Keith Goulder (Maureen), Michael Charles Goulder, Geoffrey Carroll Greene; niece, Leslie Claire Greene; great-nephew, Caleb Talmadge Allen; special auntie, Mavis Medlin Carsley; and cousins, Melanie Carsley, Mark & Mary Carsley, Kenneth Lee Olds, Anna & Emma Carsley; his horse, Socks; and his little dachshunds, Trapper & Smoke. A Funeral Service will be held at 11:00 a.m. Thursday, July 30, 2015 at the Colonial Heights Chapel of the E. Alvin Small Funeral Homes & Crematory, 2033 Boulevard with the Reverend Robert Livesay officiating. Burial will follow in Blandford Cemetery, Petersburg. The family will receive friends from 7 to 8:30 p.m. Wednesday, July 29, 2015 at the funeral home. Flowers are welcome or contributions may be made to a charity of your choice.
