Glenn Alexander Dean, 90, passed away on December 16, 2015 at Sitter-Barfoot Veterans Care Center. Born on January 4, 1925, he was the son of the late Elvin Dean and Dorothy Hicks, and was also preceded in death by his wife, Catherine M. Dean. Glenn, also known as Red to his friends, enjoyed fishing in his spare time and was an accomplished carpenter. After a tour of service with the United States Army, Glenn worked and retired as a homebuilder. He is survived by his son, Glenn A. Dean; daughter, Mary Elizabeth Bazis; the children of his late wife, Charlotte McCoy McAdams, Carol Ann McCoy Moore, and Barbara McCoy Harmon; his sister, Pansy Hawkins; and numerous grandchildren, nieces and nephews. The family would like to extend their gratitude to Sitter-Barfoot Veterans Care Center and Ascend Hospice for the outstanding service and care and to Glenn's nephew, Dean Hawkins, for all of the loving assistance he provided. The family would also like to express their appreciation of Glenn's cherished friend, Jim Hamad. A graveside service will be held in Sunset Memorial Park, Chester, Virginia, at 11:30 a.m. on Saturday December 19, 2015 with Retired Chaplain John Dean officiating. The family will receive friends Saturday morning from 10 - 11:00 a.m. at the Colonial Heights Chapel of E. Alvin Small Funeral Homes and Crematory, 2033 Boulevard.
