Gloria Baird

Gloria Wilkinson Baird, a resident of Colonial Heights since 1956, passed away on Sunday, May 22, 2016 at Southside Regional Medical Center. She was the daughter of the late William Benjamin Wilkinson Sr. and Catherine Mayer Wilkinson; and was the widow of Harvey Burns Baird, Jr. She was also preceded in death by two sisters, Virginia W. Jennings and Louise W. Valenta. Mrs. Baird was a member of the Wesley United Methodist Church in Colonial Heights, the American Legion Auxiliary Post #284, the Jamestowne Society, the Society of the Descendants of Washington's Army at Valley Forge, National Society Colonial Dames XVII Century, National Society of the American Colonists Pocahontas Chapter, NSDAR, and the United Daughters of the Confederacy Petersburg Chapter #155. She is survived by her daughter, Bonnie Sue Baird of Colonial Heights; sister, Ruth W. Bury of Colonial Heights; and a brother, William "Bennie" Wilkinson, Jr. Funeral services will be private. In lieu of flowers, contributions may be made to the SPCA of Petersburg/Colonial Heights, 201 Temple Avenue, Colonial Heights, Virginia 23834 or to the National Search Dog Foundation, 501 E.
