Gloria Elizabeth Sutton, of Petersburg, VA, departed this life on Wednesday, 18 May 2016, at Chippenham Hospital, in Richmond, VA. She was the fourth of five children, born December 11, 1931 in Cincinnati, Hamilton, Ohio to the late Ernest Chester and Melvina (Kosh) Sutton. Gloria retired after 23 years and 11 months of military service, divided between the U.S. Air Force, as an IBM Cardo Type Operator, and the U.S. Army, as a Cook. She was a member of The American Legion, J. Thompson Wyatt Post 2 in Petersburg, VA for 41 years, and was also a member of The American Legion Auxiliary, Unit 2. Gloria was preceded in death by her brothers Raymond Chester Sutton and Arthur William Sutton, and her sister Norma Williams. She is survived by her sister, Wanda Harrison, of Williamsburg, Ohio, and niece, Sylvia Coppernoll, of Logansport, IN, who made necessary arrangements her care. Gloria also has many nieces and nephews in Ohio and Indiana. Memorial Services will be held at The American Legion, J. Thompson Wyatt Post 2, 820 Winfield Road, in Petersburg at a later date.
