Grace Cannady

Grace Elizabeth Cannady, 83, of South Prince George passed away on Saturday, June 25, 2022. Born in Ashland, Virginia on December 26, 1938, she was raised by the late Ashton P. and Christine Stone, and was also preceded in death by her beloved husband, LTC John William Cannady, Jr.

She was a loving wife, mother, grandmother, nannie and steadfast friend to all she knew. In her early years, Grace enjoyed bowling, cooking, and reading. She loved keeping in touch with all her friends and family through Facebook, but most of all, she cherished the time she spent with her family.

She is survived by her loving children, Carol C. Puckett and husband, Randy, John W. Cannady III and wife, Bev, Kim C. Clay and husband, H.L.; beloved grandchildren, Derek Cannady, Whitney Fisher and husband, Brett, Blakely Cannon and husband, Tony, Jordan Fletcher and husband, Corey, Lindsey Wooldridge and husband, Dane; six cherished great-grandchildren, Kensley, Riley, Briley, Corbin, Brody, Colton; sisters, Ann Longest, Joyce Reade and husband, Harris, Gloria Payne, Vivian Johnston, Bradley Harris and husband, Tommy, Ann Boyd and husband, Earl; best friend, Barbara Wall; numerous nieces, nephews and other extended family members.

A memorial service will be held at 3:00 p.m. on Friday, July 1, 2022 in the Crater Road Chapel of E. Alvin Small Funeral Homes and Crematory, 3935 S. Crater Road, Petersburg, Virginia 23805. Interment will be held in Arlington National Cemetery at a later date. The family will receive friends one hour prior to the service on Friday from 2:00 – 3:00 p.m. at the funeral home.
