Grace Finlay Neal, 98, of Chester, left us to be with Jesus on Monday, August 27, 2012, after a long battle with Alzheimer's disease. She resided at the Golden Living Center (Battlefield Park) since July of 2006. She was loved and very happy and content with special aides at the facility. Mrs. Neal was the widow of Joseph Ottie Neal, and the daughter of the late Robert and Nora Adell Loucks Finlay. She was preceded in death by sisters, Margaret Nicholas, Leah Goodman; brothers, Floyd Finlay, Richard Moody; also a special niece, Mildred Goodman Goodrich. She retired from the Brown & Williamson Tobacco Company with over 30 years of service. She was a member of the New Jerusalem Baptist Church in Hopewell. Mrs. Neal is survived by her daughter, Alta N. Allgood and husband, Clarence E. of Dinwiddie; two grandchildren Ottie Eugene Allgood and wife, Deborah of Mechanicsville, and Nelson Earl Allgood and wife, Tammie of Dinwiddie; seven great-grandchildren; three great-great-grandchildren; a sister, Vernell Cates; numerous nieces and nephews; and devoted caregivers thru the years, Connie Kirkland, Frances Bishop, Nancy Tatum, Louise Durance, Sally Hall, and the late Mildred Goodrich. She loved the Lord and helping others. A funeral service will be held at 10:00 a.m. on Thursday, August 30, 2012 in the Petersburg Chapel of the E. Alvin Small Funeral Homes and Crematory, 3935 S. Crater Road with Pastor Arthur Lands officiating. Interment, Southlawn Memorial Park, Prince George. The family will receive friends Wednesday from 6-8:30 p.m. at the funeral home.
