Grace Whitmore

Grace A. Whitmore Grace A. Whitmore of Petersburg passed away October 28, 2015 at her home. She was the widow of Edward E. Whitmore, Sr., and the daughter of the late Lewis T. & Annie Mae Dance Aldridge. She was preceded in death by a brother, Lewis Aldridge and two sisters, Margaret Titmus and Elizabeth Anderson and her loving nephew, Wayne Titmus. She was a member of Tabb Street Presbyterian Church, the Crater Chapter of AARP 1399, and National Association of Retired Federal Employees. After enjoying her retirement from Fort Lee for a while, she began a second career at Walmart where she worked up into her 80s. She loved traveling with her friends and whether building indoor forts with her grandsons or belly dancing with her granddaughters, Grace enjoyed living life to the fullest. She is survived by 2 sons, Barry Kirkland and Edward (Buddy) Whitmore and wife, Beverly; two grandsons Kevin (Sybil) Kirkland and Kory Kirkland; two granddaughters, Lindsay Whitmore and Carrie Whitmore, and one great grandson, Kody Kirkland, and devoted friend, Linda Fitzgerald. Mrs. Whitmore is also survived by her devoted nieces and nephews and too many loving friends to mention. A Funeral service will be held at 2:00 p.m. on Tuesday, November 3, 2015 at the Crater Road Chapel of the E. Alvin Small Funeral Home and Crematory, 3935 South Crater Road Petersburg, Virginia 23805 with the Reverend James H. Blankenship officiating. Burial will follow in Blandford Cemetery.
