Grady McNeil Brown, 87, of Colonial Heights, Virginia, went to be with the Lord on Monday, April 17, 2023. He was preceded in death by his loving parents and two sisters. Grady grew up in Suffolk, Virginia.
He graduated from Virginia Tech (Corp of Cadets) with a Chemical Engineering degree. While studying at Tech, he met the love of his life, Betty Lorene, who was a student at Radford. He spent time in the Air Force as a meteorologist and later became a Chemical Engineer for Allied Chemical (Honeywell). He loved the Lord and sang tenor in the church choir at Immanuel Baptist Church in Colonial Heights, where he was also a trustee. He loved praising his Savior and sang until he could no longer see the music. He was very much in love with his wife of 65 years, and they provided each other with much love, comfort and security. He loved traveling, gardening and being outdoors.
He is survived by his beloved wife of 65 years, Betty Lorene Brown; one son, David Brown (Cathy); one daughter, Lorie Staples (David); one brother, Ted Brown; six grandchildren, Ross Staples (Katherine Roettger), James Staples, Sarah Staples, Brittany Brown, Emily Levis, (Ryan), Michael Brown; and one great-grandchild, August Brown. He will be greatly missed by all who knew him and loved him.
A graveside service will be held at 11:00 a.m. on Saturday, April 22, 2023, in Sunset Memorial Park 2901 West Hundred Road Chester, Virginia 23831 with the Reverend Steve Lalk officiating. The family will receive friends Friday, April 21, 2023, from 6:30 p.m.8:00 p.m. at the Colonial Heights Chapel of E. Alvin Small Funeral Home and Crematory, 2033 Boulevard.
