Greta Richey

Greta Rue Joyner Richey, 81, of Colonial Heights, passed away Thursday, January 20, 2022.  She was born on July 18, 1940, to the late Loy Gilbert and Lillian Jones Joyner and was preceded in death by her husband, Wayne Melvin Richey; son, Kristopher Richey; and siblings, Mavis Joyner, Gilbert Joyner, Lynn Collins, Vonnie Perrini, and G. C. Joyner. Greta was a devoted childcare provider, both in her home and at Mount Pleasant Baptist Church where she was a longtime member. She loved to play bridge and travel to wineries with her friends Carolyn, Connie, and Barbara, but above all she loved her family. She was a doting grandmother and great-grandmother, and she cherished the time she spent with those she loved. She is survived by her children, Kimra Richey Vaughan (Timmy), Kevin Wayne Richey (Darlene), and Kollin DeWitt Richey; grandchildren, Rachel, Rebekah, Sabrina, Abigail, Elyse, and Kaelie; great-grandchildren, Buxton, Logan, Brystol, and Natalie; and close friends, Carol Quillen and Lanelle Cooper (JC). A funeral service will be held at 10 a.m. on Friday, January 28th at the Colonial Heights Chapel of E. Alvin Small Funeral Homes and Crematory, 2033 Boulevard, Colonial Heights, Virginia 23834 with Pastor Michael Baugham officiating. Visitation will be held from 6 p.m. to 8 p.m. on Thursday, January 27th at the funeral home. Interment will take place at Southlawn Memorial Park, S. Prince George.
