Gwendolyn Joyce Rush

Gwendolyn Joyce Rush, 68, of Colonial Heights, Virginia, passed away on Thursday, January 2nd, 2025, at Dinwiddie Health and Rehabilitation Center. Born in Petersburg, Virginia, she was preceded in death by her mother, Hazel Merhout and father, Johnny Johnson. Mrs. Rush was a retired LPN.

Gwendolyn radiated happiness when she walked into any room. She enjoyed soaking up the sun at the beach, spending time with her family and was a wheel of fortune fanatic. She was loved by so many and made a lasting impression on anyone who had the pleasure of meeting her. She greeted any and everyone with a, "Hi" and always ended it with, "I love you," no matter the situation. She loved her family more than anything.

She is survived by her Husband, Allen (Mike) Rush; daughter, Amy Rush; son, B.J. Rush; three granddaughters Cheyanne Young, Brielle Watkins, and Hailey Bradshaw; two brothers, David Johnson and Terry Johnson; five nephews, Matthew Johnson, Todd Johnson, Christopher Johnson, Mitchell Johnson, and Nicholas Johnson. A visitation will be held from 6:00pm - 8:00pm Thursday, January 9th, 2025 at E. Alvin Small Funeral Homes & Crematory, 2033 Boulevard, Colonial Heights, VA. In lieu of flowers, contributions may be made to the Alzheimer's Association at www.act.alz.org
