Harley C. Sorensen, 93, of Colonial Heights passed away on Monday, June 18, 2018. Born June 17, 1925, he was the son of the late Arthur and Cora Sorensen and was also preceded in death by his wife, Barbara Cox Sorensen and brother, Richard Sorensen. Harley was a member of Faith Baptist Church in Colonial Heights for about 30 years. He was a United States Air Force Reserve veteran, having proudly served his country during WWII. Later, he retired as an engineer from Brenco after 42 years of service. He is survived by his daughters, Shirley Gaylen (Michael), Esther Whitebread (Gerry) and Toni Sorensen; sons, Harley Sorensen Jr. (Cathy), James Sorensen (Loretta) and Michael Sorensen; sister, Esther Kehoe; 15 grandchildren; 28 great-grandchildren; 3 great-great-grandchildren and numerous nieces, nephews and other extended family and friends. The family would like to thank the staff at Lucy Corr Village and Heartland Hospice for their extraordinary care of Mr. Sorensen in his time of need. A funeral service will be held at 11:00 a.m. on Friday, June 22, 2018 at Faith Baptist Church, 1226 W. Roslyn Road, Colonial Heights, Virginia 23834 with Pastor Gene Ballance officiating. Interment will follow in Southlawn Memorial Park, S. Prince George. The family will receive friends from 6:00 - 8:00 p.m. on Thursday night, June 21, 2018 at the Colonial Heights Chapel of E.
