Harold A. Crowder, 88, of Colonial Heights, passed away on Thursday, September 27, 2018. He was born in Mecklenburg County, Virginia on November 12, 1929 to the late Bailey E. and Ruth M. Crowder. He was preceded in death by his lovely wife, Dorothy G. Crowder, and survived by cousins and friends. He retired from the American Tobacco Company as a Leaf Accounting Supervisor. He was a member of Mount Pleasant Baptist Church. Over the years, he has served as a Deacon, Sunday School Director, Church Clerk, Sunday School Teacher, Sunday School Class President, and has performed many hours of volunteer work. He was Past Master of Chase City Masonic Lodge #119, Past District Deputy Grand Master of the 28th Masonic District and served as District Educational Officer. He was a 32nd degree Mason of Danville Scottish Bodies, Past Patron of Chase City Chapter Order of the Eastern Star #147, and Past Grand Representative to the State of New Jersey. Visitation will be held from 3 p.m. to 4:30 p.m. on Sunday, September 30, 2018 at the Colonial Heights Chapel of E. Alvin Small Funeral Homes and Crematory. A funeral service will be held at 11 a.m. on Monday, October 1, 2018, at Mount Pleasant Baptist Church, 3110 Greenwood Ave., Colonial Heights, Virginia, 23834 with Rev. Dr. Andy Brockelman and Rev. Wayne Johnson officiating. Entombment will follow at 3 p.m. at Woodland Cemetery, Fairgrounds Dr., Chase City, Virginia. In lieu of flowers, memorial donations may be made to Mount Pleasant Baptist Church Debt Retirement Fund or American Cancer Society, P.O. Box 429, Richmond, Virginia 23218.
