Harry Preston Mayton Jr., 65 of Ettrick, departed this life on October 13, 2015. He is a native of Petersburg, Virginia. Harry was preceded in death by his father, Harry Preston "Red" Mayton, his mother, Katherine Harris Mayton, both of Petersburg, and brothers, Llewellyn Mayton of Ettrick, Gene Mayton of Petersburg. He is survived by his devoted companion, Carole Pollard, daughter Britney Mayton, granddaughter O'riya Mayton, and his loyal sidekick, "Toby", all of Ettrick. Harry also leaves behind two daughters, Bobbi-Jo Mayton of Palm Bay, Florida, Tory Gupton of Dinwiddie and six grandchildren; two sisters, Mary Elder and Ruby Townsend of Dinwiddie; a special nephew, Elbert "Bubba" Townsend, Jr., of Dinwiddie, a number of nieces and nephews, and many, many friends. Preston was a forklift driver at Brown & Williamson and a cabinet maker. He spent most of his life on the ball field where he was an avid softball player with many great memories, awards and teammates. A memorial service will be held 3:00 p.m. on Wednesday, October 21, 2015 at E. Alvin Small Funeral Homes and Crematory 2033 Boulevard Colonial Heights, Virginia 23834.
